Wine Cellars In Dallas, TX: Fill Your Cellar With Great Local Wines

Wine cellars in Dallas, TX are for more than just storing offerings from Spain, France and Italy.  If you own or want to own a wine cellar in North Texas, why not plan on saving at least a little space for wine from your local wineries.  Texas has a long history of wine production, from the 1650s, when Franciscan priests produced wine near what is now El Pas, to the present day, with more than 200 wineries in the state producing over 4,000 tons of wine every year.  Of course, you don’t have to sample wine from all 200 wineries to find some worth cellaring, but you can start with these four Dallas-area wineries:

1 - Eden Hill Winery

Eden Hill Winery is 30 miles north of Dallas in Celina and is open for wine tastings every Sunday from 1 to 6 pm.  If you like what you taste, you can come back Thursday through Saturday to purchase one bottle or a case.  Eden Hill produces award-winning Tempranillo wines made from the noble grape of Spain along with a variety of red wines, white wines and sweet dessert wines.

2 - Landon Winery

Landon Winery is located in the heart of McKinney and is open for wine tastings all day, every day that they are open. Winemaker Bob Landon has accrued more than 20 awards for his wine since he began producing wine in 2004.  Landon bottles a wide variety of wines from white Cabernet Sauvignons to Red Merlots and sparkling wines.

3 - Caudalie Crest Winery

Caudalie Crest is a “boutique” winery also located in Celina and offers tastings on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and by special request.  Caudalie Crest doesn’t produce the variety of wines that larger wineries do, but it does offer a few vibrant reds, crisp whites and fun sweet wines that prove that wine cellars in Dallas, TX don’t have to be big to be good.

4 - Lone Star Wine Cellars

Another McKinney winery, Lone Star Cellars, not only hosts tastings every day in their cozy wine-tasting room, but they also present live music every weekend and produce numerous award-winning wines.  Their red wines include Malbecs, Pinot Noirs and Merlots.  Their white wines include Rieslings, Pinot Grigios and Gewürztraminers.  Additionally, they offer blush wines, dessert wines and library wines that have been cellared on-site to reach peak drinkability.
